 Marc Shaffer, Principal, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designee, who has been with the firm since 2006.  He graduated from Kansas State University in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning and minor in Business and Economics.   

Marc is also an Enrolled Agent (EA).  An EA is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation.  Having completed this training, he brings a strong tax planning perspective to our firm.  He maintains this credential by completing 72 hours of continuing professional education every three years.  He is also a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®.)

As a member of The Fiduciary Society for Ethical Financial Practices (FSEFP), Marc is committed to acting as a fiduciary, with a legal and ethical responsibility to the people and organizations he serves, and to upholding the highest standards of ethical practices in his everyday life.

Marc is a member of the Kansas City Chapter of the Financial Planning Association where he serves as the Career Chairman which helps individuals interested in pursuing a career in financial planning get connected into the community.  This includes providing resources to current students and recent graduates of local and surrounding area colleges and universities.  Additionally, he assists in organizing the Kansas City Chapter Career Day.

Marc was chosen by KC Magazine as a member of the 2010 class of ‘Rising Stars.’  Those nominated were individuals under 40 years of age making a difference in their community and business.  He was also awarded the 2011 KSU Entrepreneur Award, which recognizes K-State alumni who have applied their knowledge as an owner of a business, and serve their community, profession and university.

Marc was chosen to speak at South China Normal University and other local universities in Guangzhou, China regarding the economic impact of the emerging Chinese economy on the world.

As an active member of the Overland Park South Rotary club, Marc contributes his time and energy to philanthropic events like the Jazz in the Woods festival at Corporate Woods.  In 2011, he served as the Chairman for Jazz in the Woods.  He has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow award winner. 

Marc enjoys serving on the Kansas City K-State Alumni Planning Committee, which plans the KC events for K-State Alumni such as various networking activities, family outings, and two large K-State promotion events at Boulevard Brewery.

Marc recently completed his third Kansas City half marathon and is working toward completing his first full marathon in the near future.  He has completed two MS150 Bike Rides, biking 182 miles across Missouri and Kansas, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research.
