Education

We strive to be a healthy, vibrant, growing firm that is locally and nationally recognized for our excellence in education, life coaching, financial planning, and investment management.  Much of what we give back, we give back in the form of education.  We provide educational opportunities for investment stewards (boards, foundations, and retirement plan sponsors) and their professional advisors (lawyers and accountants) to learn about fiduciary standards and responsibility.

  Winds of Change Workshop

We also teach a financial education course called Winds of Change.  The curriculum was developed for people experiencing a life transition such as terminal illness or divorce.  We donate our time to teach the 9 hour course and all proceeds have benefited charities:

When requested, we teach the Winds of Change course at Turning Point.  Turning Point’s mission is to empower and transform the mind, body, and spirit of individuals, families, and friends living with serious or chronic physical illness. They provide education services and tools that inspire people to take charge of their illness and live life to its fullest.
While Mike served as a board member, we taught several courses to benefit Safehome.  Safehome’s mission is to break the cycle of sexual and domestic violence and abuse by providing women and children a healing atmosphere where survivors can gain inner strength, build self-esteem, explore options and establish a life free of violence.

We have also taught the Winds of Change course to benefit Heart to Heart International.  Their mission is to improve global health through humanitarian initiatives that connect people and resources to a world in need. Every year, Heart to Heart addresses health concerns, responds to people in crisis, distributes medical aid, and strengthens communities in more than 60 counties, including the United States.

  Quality of Life

We also spend a great deal of time helping people improve their quality of life.  We believe that it is very difficult to achieve your dreams (or even think about what those might be) if your basic necessities, security, and wellness needs are not being met.  Therefore, we often focus on helping meet those needs for individuals in our community and abroad.

We have previously partnered with a local elementary school to offer our financial support.  The school is located in Johnson County and has approximately 60% of the students whose families are living at or below the poverty level.  We regularly donate school supplies for children whose families can’t afford them and supplement teachers’ supplies to help provide the children with additional learning opportunities that they might not otherwise experience.  We have also participated in an annual holiday project to provide holiday gifts to students and their families.  We have adopted both students and families over the past several years who ask for things like socks, coats, and space heaters.

Leawood Rotary Club Bids for Kids – an annual auction that supports local charities providing services and meeting the needs of children in our community.

Rotary Guatemala water project – Our founder and president is involved in this collaborative effort between Heart to Heart International and area Rotary clubs.  The project provides reliable access to clean water and education in basic health and disease prevention to communities in Guatemala.

Other projects we enjoy donating our time to include:

Johnson County Christmas Bureau
Reach Out and Read
AIDS Walk Kansas City
Cross-Lines Community Outreach
Bowling for St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf
